Tamara Thiessen Travels: There is no place like away!
Journalist, photographer, storyteller, digital creator, Tamara Thiessen Travels reports on adventure, breaking travel news, great trips, and amazing places. Plus culture, hotels, design, food and wine. In my almost non-stop global roaming as a journalist and travel writer, I have covered just about every subject matter on the planet. From the best kway teow noodles in Malaysia to cycling superhighways in Copenhagen. Trekking on the trail of orangutans in Borneo to the latest and greatest design centric restaurants in Paris. Then the news stories, Europe-wide coverage, the EU, France, Germany and Italy. French train strikes, terrorist attacks, racism, and new Rodin museums in China, these have all been on my radar.
Breaking Travel News, Great trips
Among my latest sustainable travel reports is a story on net zero carbon hotels for CNN. As the need to preserve the planet as travellers spirals, sustainability, luxury and hotels can – and should – go hand-in-hand. I also cover hotel news, trends and openings globally for the likes of Hotel News Now and Hospitality Design.
Wander – grow – wonder: Travel is mind-expanding
Travel is in my veins. From as early as I could, I escaped my island home to travel the world. As a writer and journalist, I live a wandering life. What I love most about travel all comes down to nature and culture – and change! The landscapes you encounter – and the people you do. Both make your mind and outlook grow as you look on in awe at the world outside … beyond your usual experiences, beliefs, and home comfort zone … and learn about other customs, languages and environments. Put simply, travel transforms. It would be selfish of me to not share some of the wonders of being on the road with you. That’s why I write. The challenge is to try to capture the intensity of the experience in words.
