Born to write, books for me are a kind of religious experience. Both reading and writing them. Whether I have a publisher or not has never been a big part of the equation. Tales of Rome’s beginnings, from Romulus and Remus to Ovid, Agrippina and Nero. Plus Puccini, Fellini, La Dolce Vita and Roman Holiday … Here are two samples to delve into.
A visual essay on Sydney’s neighbourhood cafes. From Bondi to Bronte, Potts Point to Glebe. Beachside, bayside, bohemian and ultra barista-fied cafes.
The fourth edition of my Bradt Travel Guide to Borneo is out … with an irresistible (yet menaced) mascot.

I have also worked as a contributing writer and photographer to several other guidebooks. Among them the Eyewitness Guides to France, Italy and Australia. Here is a sample spread from the Italy Guide.
